A number of butterflies have been discovered ,which have variety of characteristics and features. Out of those discovered butterflies a large number is a resident of India.
           The butterflies found in India are mainly of two categories -
Parnassiinae
Papilioninae








In INDIA butterflies are found almost everywhere in the country. The Appolos are found in the upper himalayan and hilly regions of the country while the Swallowtails are noticed flying in the lower sea levels.
